Call To All Villages. Volunteers Wanted !!

Worcester Ramblers, as with many other walking groups, have a team of volunteers that help maintain public rights of way. I coordinate that such a group and cover a fair bit of Worcestershire. The type of work we do would include: vegetative clearance and pruning, removing and repairing stiles, installing kissing gates, steps, ditch crossings and footbridges. All tools and materials are provided by the rights of way team at the Countryside Services, Worcestershire County Council.

We meet their supervisor at a predetermined site and work from about 10am for couple of hours or so, always bringing a packed lunch. We normally meet on the first Monday of every month but stick to relatively local venues within the Severn and Teme valleys. To give an idea we’ve been to Castle Morton, Upton. Clifton on Teme, Grafton Flyford, Powick, Kempsey and Peopleton. We rely heavily on car sharing. So if you like working outdoors and doing something useful for the community, then please contact Stephen Williams on 07940 031 335. You don’t have to be a rambler or even passionate about walking.
